The Team

Lab PI: Chi-Yun Kuo 郭祺筠

Assistant Professor - Department of Biomedical Science and Environmental Biology

Associate Editor - Functional Ecology

Chi is an evolutionary and behavioral ecologist with a particular interest in understanding how behaviors can change with experience and the community-level consequences, especially in the context of predator-prey interactions and mimicry. Chi uses an integrative approach to answer questions at hand. Here's Chi's CV (updated 04-10-2024)

Research Assistant: Yu-Zhe Wu 巫宇哲

Yu-Zhe is a recent graduate from the Biology Department and worked in our group as an undergraduate. He will be in charge of multiple projects, including one on boldness and reverse learning in lizards and another on predator responses to butterfly chemical defenses.

Hui-Chi Liu 劉蕙綺

Hui-Chi is a senior in the Bachelor Program in Life Sciences. She was awarded an MOST undergraduate student research scholarship to study toxicity and signal similarity among Mullerian mimetic butterflies.

Ching-Ning Yeh 葉晴寧

Ching-Ning is a senior in the Bachelor Program in Life Sciences. She works on the thermal tolerance and habitat differentiation in a sea urchin species complex.

Ai-Ching Meng 孟艾晴

Ai-Ching is a junior in the Biology Department. She is using AI to quantify exploration personality in lizards.

Yu-Hsi Chen 陳又璽

You-Si is a junior in the Biology Department. He is participating in the project using domestic chicks as predators to measure avoidance towards toxic butterflies.

Hsin-Yen Lu 呂欣彥

Hsin-Yen is a junior in the Biotechnology Department. He is working on visualizing butterfly wing patterns when they are in motion.

Shan-Yu Yang 楊善喻

Shan-Yu is a sophomore in the Bachelor Program in Life Sciences. She is interested in animal behavior and cognition.

Hsin-Chen Tsai 蔡昕辰

Hsin-Chen is a sophomore in the Biology Department. She is participating in our experimental evolution project using bugs.

Chiao-Hsuan Kuo 郭蕎瑄

Chiao-Hsuan is a sophomore in the Biology Department. She is also participating in our experimental evolution project using bugs.

Lab Alumni

Hao-En Chin 秦皓恩 (2022-2023): Hao-En was a postgraduate research technician in the lab. He helped perform avoidance learning experiments on lizards and domestic chicks.
